Welcome!

The Gamma Tau at-Large Chapter was formed on May 13, 1978. We are the 89th chapter established at the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.

Serving as the President of the Gamma Tau at-Large Chapter for a second year is both an honor and a responsibility I hold with deep pride. The past year was a dynamic and fulfilling period, marked by a strong commitment to service and numerous operational achievements that have strengthened our chapter’s foundation. From organizing impactful community outreach initiatives to enhancing our internal processes, we've made significant strides that reflect the dedication of our members and the power of collective purpose. As we look ahead, I am confident that this momentum will continue. With renewed energy and a clear vision, this year promises to be another chapter of growth, service, and excellence for Gamma Tau at-Large.

Thank you for your ongoing dedication to the success of our chapter.

If you have any questions or need further information, feel free to contact me at rccarpio@gmail.com. I look forward to seeing you at our next chapter event.

Velma Yep, DNP, MSN, RN, GNP-BC

Nursing is my passion, besides that,  I am a wife, a mother to 2 successful professionals,  a grandma, love to travel, play chess, hike, run with my Malinois dog, and cook gourmet meals, and yes wine wine-tasting in Southern California.
I have been an RN since 1982 with work experience in emergency and critical care. As a nurse practitioner since 2002, I have worked in oncology, ambulatory medicine,  urgent care, geriatrics, hospice, and palliative care. I pursued both my MSN-GNP and DNP from the University of California in Los Angeles.

I respect DEI rights for everyone; therefore, I provide monthly professional nursing updates focused on APRNs and legislative issues affecting healthcare through the Practice Committee Column of the "Inside PNAA" online monthly edition of the PNAA magazine. I am the immediate past president of the California Association for Nurse Practitioners (CANP)Inland Empire chapter( IE), current Practice Committee chair for the Philippine Nurses Association of America ( PNAA) for Advanced Practice Nurses, and current Legislative, Human Rights, and Ethics committee chair for both the CANP IE and the Philippine Nurses Association of Southern California. I continue to advocate and lobby for patients' access to equitable healthcare. I have provided clinical preceptorship to nurse practitioner students, mentored and inspired many nurses (love doing this).

Sigma is a great pathway for nurses to spread the importance of what we do as the most caring, trusted, and respected profession. I thank all my professional nursing colleagues for what you do!
